Within the framework of the Second National Dialogue for Peace, thirteen companies received the Companies for Peace Distinction, a recognition given to those organizations that implement practices aimed at human development, violence prevention, community strengthening and the promotion of dignified work environments.
The recognized companies come from 12 states across the country and were selected from among 100 evaluated organizations. Sixty more will continue a support process to meet the criteria and obtain recognition in future editions. “May this encourage Mexican business leaders to continue their training, creating the conditions to foster a culture of peace and their commitment to peace within their communities,” said Jorge Atilano González Candia, SJ, executive director of the National Dialogue for Peace.
Atilano was part of the presidium along with Monsignor Héctor Mario Pérez Villarreal, Secretary General of the Mexican Episcopal Conference (CEM); Octavio de la Torre Stéffano, President of the Confederation of National Chambers of Commerce, Services and Tourism (Concanaco-Servytur); Javier Solana Lozano, President of the Social Union of Entrepreneurs of Mexico (USEM-UNIAPAC Mexico); José Ignacio Mariscal, representative of the Employers' Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex); Ricardo Escobedo Machado, head of the Entrepreneurship Committee of the National Chamber of the Transformation Industry in Mexico (Canacintra); Aleida Flores, General Director of Ibero Monterrey and State Liaison of the Nuevo León Network; and Rosario Salas, Member of the Querétaro State Network (Repq).
During the ceremony, it was emphasized that 12 of the 13 recognized companies are micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), many of which are family businesses. “MSMEs build this country every day,” said Octavio de la Torre.
The distinguished companies were: Agropecuaria La Norteñita, BioTecLab Jn3.16, CEDIMI Laboratories, Centro de Acopio y Soluciones Ambientales, Combuservicios, Controladora Vía Rápida Poetas, Criser, Estructuras Metálicas de Puebla, Grupo La Paz, La Vencedora, Restaurante Mar y Tierra, Talentoría and Desarrolladora Comuna.
At the close of the event, a collaboration agreement was signed between Coparmex and the National Dialogue for Peace, with the aim of strengthening business initiatives focused on building peace in the country. In a video message, Juan José Sierra, national president of Coparmex, emphasized: “For business leaders, peace is not an abstract concept; it is a prerequisite for investment, for generating formal employment, and for sustaining vibrant communities. Without security and the rule of law, development is impossible.”
